Utech
Watercolor
My work is driven by a single, fundamental goal: “connection”. I create with the intention of building a bridge between the canvas and the observer, inviting a shared moment of reflection and resonance.
My process is deeply rhythmic and sensory. When I step into the studio, music is an essential collaborator; the melodies and tempos guide my hand, allowing the energy of sound to translate into atmospheric movement on the canvas. This auditory layer adds a level of spontaneity and soul to my work, ensuring that every mark is a lived experience.
This focus on human connection is rooted in my history of service. For 30 years, I worked as a teacher and administrator in special education, dedicating my career to mentoring staff and advocating for students with unique needs. Today, as a full-time professional artist, that lifelong commitment to understanding diverse perspectives and fostering growth forms the backbone of my studio practice.
I view art as a powerful tool for communication and self-discovery. A vital part of my practice is merging my background in education with my creative work—helping both children and adults strip away their hesitations and discover their own unique creative voices.
For me, art is not a solitary pursuit; it is a collaborative dialogue. Whether through a finished piece or a shared workshop, I strive to create spaces where expression is accessible, meaningful, and deeply felt.

Photography
A photograph can serve as a litmus test in that the observer's response to an image can be a measure of what lies within them. It is my desire to create images that resonate with an individuals deepest level of being - to beauty and the unseen dimensions of our reality.

Weiss
Oil Paintings
Ms. Weiss's soft, impressionistic oil paintings of landscapes and flowers are inspired by the area around her home on a beautiful river in Wisconsin, and by her travels through the English countryside. Her paintings capture a peaceful moment in the changing moods of light and seasons. The purpose of her work is to invite the viewer to be drawn into the serenity and beauty of creation.

watercolor
Create something amazing out of the ordinary, then anything can become extraordinary.
Artist, Karen Utech has found herself captivated by the magic of watercolor that transpires between pigment and water. Her first introduction to watercolor formed an immediate passion for the medium. She paints based on her emotion in the moment, while gravitating toward nature and landscapes. She has expanded her designs to cityscapes, still life, animals, portraits and plein air. Karen appreciates using various techniques that are unique to watercolor and from time to time incorporates other media to her art.
Karen has devoted the last 30 years teaching children with special needs and supervising special education teachers, overseeing all special education programs. As an administrator, she strives to mentor staff using what she has learned as she moves forward to her next endeavor of being an artist. Karen aspires to bring her teaching and mentoring skills to the world of art applying a multisensory approach for children and adults.
When working in her studio you will find her listening to music which emerges through her works of art, creating a story that cannot be expressed verbally. The combination of music and art create a fresh stream of inspiration and imagination. Listening to various genres while painting kindles the unique story of each piece of art in the hopes of touching someone’s heart.

Weber
Metal, glass and assemblage
Susie Weber has actively made artwork since childhood and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh in 1986. She’s inspired in many areas including assemblage, watercolor, mosaics, collage, metal working, etc. Currently, Susie has been creating pieces that play with the juxtaposition of rugged, aged metal and vintage glass. Each piece is unique and often incorporates special found items from her life. Many pieces include reclaimed agricultural elements from her barn in Wisconsin and/or other treasures discovered in her Dad’s workshop or simply found on her adventures. Her work is distinctive, a bit whimsical and often has a scientific and natural vibe. Enjoy and reach out with any questions: susie@susieweber.com

Watercolor and calligraphy
I enjoy working with loose watercolor technique. It is a challenge and looks so painterly. I also like to incorporate flourishing of Calligraphy that is graceful and soft. The contrast of the lines complement each other. To create a card our Painting made from looking at nature or something that a person loves is so rewarding.

Acrylics
I love to explore the combination of shapes, patterns and colors that evoke a warm feeling of home. I simplify wherever possible allowing my paintings to become an abstraction. My work is inspired by Japanese woodblock printing, German Expressionism and American traditional quilting.
My paintings are often described as heartfelt and happy visions of the Midwest.
Laura
Weber
Fiber and Mixed Media
Fiber artist Laura Weber began her art journey by creating traditional and functional baskets. While the controlled, repetitive, and practical nature of the craft suits her, a different side of her is revealed in the contemporary and sculptural forms she creates, often from found and upcycled objects and materials.
Laura draws inspiration from patterns she views in nature, particularly those found in a vineyard's constructed landscape. The uniformity of the rows and trellises, combined with the gnarly tops of the vines, help to create the balance between the conventional and the unrestricted creativity that she seeks. Walks on the shores of lakes and waterways near her home in Southeast Wisconsin also serve as inspiration, where she especially enjoys discovering sticks, rocks, and curiosities washed ashore in tangled chaos.

Digital video and photography
Hailing originally from Shorewood, I delight in making short films of different genres, especially comedies, documentaries and music videos. Although I've made several feature-length films, I particularly enjoy small scale productions (30+ thus far), which offer me the utmost creative freedom as writer, director, cinematographer, editor and/or producer.
I make commissioned films for local non-profits and musician/composers, and sometimes my own more artistic and experimental creations. My films have screened on the film festival circuit and have won awards.
I also do still photography; previously some freelance work (portraits - human and canine, and weddings). Some of my photography has been shown at the Charles Allis Art Museum as part of their annual Survey of Wisconsin Art (March 2014).
