June 4 –11, 2022
Join us for Paint Cedarburg,
our annual plein air painting event.
Over 165 plein air artists roam our charming city of Cedarburg (and other designated areas in Ozaukee and Washington counties) capturing favorite historical structures, coffee shops and the picturesque countryside. Artists from all over work with oils, watercolors, pastels and more. Paint Cedarburg is nationally recognized as the largest gathering of artists in Wisconsin. Artists leave the comforts of their studios and spend 7 days painting outside…rain or shine. The public is encouraged to interact with the artists as they work and watch as their paintings come to life!

What people are saying about Paint Cedarburg…
“What helps set Cedarburg apart from other events is the scale of it all. From the number of artists to the volunteers and the buyers, when this show comes together at the end of the week it is a true spectacle. The beauty of such a large event lies in its coordination and dedication to the fine arts.”

Andy Fletcher
MEET OUR
ESTEEMED JUDGES

Andy Fletcher is a full-time, artist married to still-life painter, Katie Musolff. Together they live on their farm north of Milwaukee in Random Lake, WI. Andy has paintings in pretty much every major city in this country, has won numerous awards (which he gives to his Grandma), and enjoys a solid reputation as one of the top American landscape painters today.
His paintings are traditional plein air and studio work and never involve the use of photography. Fletcher’s work is thoughtful and evokes the simple beauty of rural, American landscapes. Often painting farms and historic houses, standing starkly against moody skyscapes. He uses color to draw sensations of nostalgia from viewers. His distinctive work emulates life on a family farm.

Shelby Keefe
Milwaukee artist, Shelby Keefe paints in a bold, representational style. After local and regional successes, she became noticed nationally, having been published in Southwest Art and Plein Air Magazines- — both being honored as the cover artist. A consistent award winner, Shelby has participated in museum shows, top-tiered plein air competitions and as well as teaching workshops around the country and has been on the faculty of many Plein Air Conventions. Shelby is a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society and American Women Artists. Shelby is represented in Door County, WI by Fine Line Designs, in Santa Fe, NM by Meyer Gallery, and in Crested Butte and Telluride, CO.

Tom Kubala
www.tomkubala.com

Architect, Tom Kubala, not only lives here in Cedarburg, but his company, Kubala Washatko Architects, is located here, too. Although Tom’s holistic architectural designs are world-renowned, perhaps you’re unaware that this quiet, unassuming man is also a talented painter. Like many painters, Tom started dabbling with a paintbrush when he was a young child and, by his own admission, this fascination with drawing and painting never left him. Plein air painting is something from which he derives great pleasure. Watercolor is his medium of choice – because it’s simple and very portable.
Walking to work every day as he does, gives Tom plenty of opportunity observe the play of light and shadow on a neighbor’s garden at different times of the day, a crumbling stone wall, sparkling sunlight on water, and the way Wisconsin weather creates an ever-changing backdrop for it all. His award-winning work captures thoughtful moments in time of his surroundings and the mastery of the medium. Tom’s work is frequently exhibited at the Cedarburg Cultural Center and can also be found at The Pink Llama Gallery, as well as other galleries in the area and across the country.
